Monster Butler cont'd

I sent the author of The Monster Butler a link to my review, and he responded with the following letter:

Dear Ms Housman
Many thanks for your kind comments. I have heard about the plans for a film about Hall, and like yourself, I have reservations about him being unjustifiably glorified. I have nothing to do with the production, and would imagine that my view on Hall's character are not what the producers would want to hear anyway. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way.
Best wishes
Allan ( Nicol )

Of course, if Evanna Lynch actually read my tweet to her the other day, she probably detests this fan by now.

The film has been canceled
Apparently the film has been canceled and has been for a while. Gary Oldman's manager confirmed it.

Re: The film has been canceled
I do feel bad for Evanna. I hope she gets a new job soon. A better one.

Re: The film has been canceled
I think you must be mistaken. The production company is still advertising it.

Re: The film has been canceled
idk ... I guess it's just Gary not doing it cause a Gary Oldman fansite confirmed from his manager the film was canceled. *shrugs* Might be canceled just for him.

Re: The film has been canceled
One commentor on IMDB said it had folded due to financial troubles, but I couldn't find what I would consider reliable confirmation of that news.

Re: The film has been canceled
If it is, no doubt Evanna will be disappointed, but I have a feeling her parents will be very happy. I saw her in that teddy. Imagine a father watching his daughter act as though she's being seduced by a much older man. . . sheesh! I also read a recent interview in which she said she and her mother were watching "The Wind that Shakes the Barley" together, and her mother said, "Can you never get a film like that?" I read that as, "Must you be in this Monster Butler monstrosity?"

Here's the sources for the Gary Oldman stuff:
"Gary Oldman Fans ‏@GO4Everyone
If anyone has wondered about 'Monster Butler', it's not happening, fell thru... bad news for fans who wanted some Harry Potter reunion..."

"Gary Oldman Fans ‏@GO4Everyone
@sskatiebell Thanks. We'll see. It seems there is a bit of difference between this info and the one we got from Gary's manager."

"Gary Oldman Fans ‏@GO4Everyone
@sskatiebell He said what we tweeted before: fell thru. Nothing more, no details. We can just wait and see."

From snitchseeker (HP news site):
"SnitchSeeker.com ‏@SnitchSeeker
Reps for Gary Oldman & @Evy_Lynch's film "Monster Butler" confirmed to us the production is delayed due to cast schedules, not canceled. RT"

and I forgot about this but Evanna was asked by a fan on twitter and answered:
"Nick Burgin ‏@burgs2010
@Evy_Lynch Just heard a rumour that Monster Butler has been cancelled! tell me it's not true! P.S. Can't wait to see you in Sinbad."

"Evanna Lynch ‏@Evy_Lynch
@burgs2010 I don't know the full story but there have been production issues unfortunately.Hopefully in the not-so-distant future though xxx"

One more source that just popped up. It was posted on that IMDb thread mentioned on here:
"Dominic Monaghan ‏@DomsWildThings
@Moffel83 monster butler had finance problems n had to get shelved. It's a common thing in this business. It may happen again."

Re: Sources
Looks for real all right. Naturally, I'm inwardly crediting my own letter, but in reality, I know that's unlikely unless a whole bunch of other people expressed the same sentiment. In any case, I really do hope Evanna gets something bigger and better.

Monster Butler shelved due to financial problems.
Hi all,
Just a quick note. I was a crew member on the feature Monster Butler and it was shelved due to financial problems after several weeks of pre shoot prep largely because of the naivety and ineptitude of the Canadian production company Dark House Films. The result is that most of the Scottish crew, including myself, are now owed tens of thousands of pounds and some may even have to file for bankruptcy. There is talk that the film may go ahead next year but until the total debt (close to $2M) is paid this seems unlikely.

Re: Monster Butler shelved due to financial problems.

Thanks for taking the time to post. I hope you and the rest of the crew get the money that's owed you. I also hope that if they go ahead with the film, the scriptwriters make use of mr. Nicol's research. Archibald Hall was a very unreliable narrator, and any film should make that clear. They could do it sort of like Salieri at the end of "Amadeus," except instead of an old guy in a mental institution, Hall was an old guy in prison.
